Burke County is currently looking for two full-time School Psychologists. School Psychologists work 10 months. We have 26 schools and nine full-time school psychologists. Burke County is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is an exciting time to be a School Psychologist in Burke county, as we are expanding implementation of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Response to Intervention (RTI). In addition, the county received a mental health grant to implement school-based mental health services, which will begin in September. Thomasville City Schools is accepting applications for a school psychologist or school psychologist intern for 2008-2009. The small school system serves approximately 2600 students and is located in the North Piedmont region of North Carolina just minutes from Greensboro, High Point, and Winston Salem. Progressive district currently has opportunities for school psychologists interested in expanding roles. Cleveland County Schools has a full-time (10 month) school psychologist position available, effective immediately. Cleveland County is located about 20 miles West of Charlotte. Location is ideal because the district is right between the mountains and Charlotte but without the heavy traffic. Cleveland County is currently piloting the Response to Intervention Problem Solving Method. The district also has several schools using school wide positive behavior approaches to managing behavior. Psychologists enjoy the opportunity to be involved in problem solving teams, help with behavior plans, and perform counseling duties when appropriate. Cleveland County is also dedicated to having the best and most up to date instruments for assessment purposes. The individual selected for this position will join a staff of nine providing comprehensive psychological services to a student population of 17,500.
